I grew up in a small town right outside of Charlotte, NC. The land of fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, biscuits, and vegetables simmered in butter. In my community, food is a way we communicate love and fellowship with one another. So, attaining health and wellness felt more like an impossible feat early on in my journey.
How I got started in fitness
I was far from athletic and had minimal knowledge of nutritious eating, that was until a pre-diabetic scare at age sixteen changed the trajectory of my life forever. Thankfully, I had an endocrinologist who held me accountable, but also educated me on practical ways to take control of my health.
Learning more about my own body inspired me to get my BS in Nursing (2013), and eventually my Master’s in Nursing Education (2018). I have worked in various nursing capacities over the years. Alongside coaching, I currently work full time in nursing education in Houston, TX.
I’d love to say that I never struggled with maintaining my health, but the reality is, I developed unhealthy patterns of on-again off-again dieting, a poor relationship with food, into a cycle of over training and under eating.
It wasn’t until I was introduced to weight lifting and flexible dieting that I realized I don’t have to live on either side of the extremes, but there’s a space where I can enjoy what I do enough to do it consistently, and so can you!
Why I chose this route to help others
Although I love nursing, there’s not nearly as many opportunities to work in a space of preventative health as there are treatment and that’s exactly what coaching has permitted me to do.
I felt called to help others by educating, encouraging, and empowering them to take control of their own journey to wellness, and cultivating a healthy lifestyle that is sustainable & most importantly, enjoyable.
One of my greatest passions is spreading knowledge and awareness of nutritionally balanced meals that are creative and delicious, in hopes to debunk the myth that nutrient dense foods are tasteless and boring.
With aligning principles, I graciously joined the Memories over Macros team as an apprentice & came on as a coach after obtaining my nutrition certification in 2020.
The greatest gift is witnessing clients make this journey their own, where they feel confident in themselves & their choices to sustain their physical and mental progress in a sustainable way.
