Stop Training So Much!

Stop Training So Much!

Can You Train Too Much?

Sometimes, less is more. You may think, “the more I work out the more fat & calories I can burn!” While that might be true, it can start to become counterproductive. Your body needs time to rest in order to recover and continue pushing forward. Enjoy your days off, spend that extra time getting things done, or spend time with your loved ones, and you will be that much better for your next workout.

The Negatives to Overtraining Your Body

When you train your body too hard, there is little room for recovery, recharging, and rebuilding. Putting too much stress on muscles without allowing them to rest can cause damage.

Sleep can be affected when overtraining because sleep is necessary to produce hormones that help with the process of recovery. Sleep is essential when it comes to mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

Over-training can also lead to weight gain simply because your stress hormones (cortisol levels) increase. Cortisol levels are released when we experience high levels of anxiety or stress. Training muscles without letting them rest can cause too much cortisol because your muscles are in a constant state of stress.

Optimal Training Tips

Resting sufficiently is just as important as staying active to help recharge. Try not to worry about missing a workout or training because building muscle is a process; it is not something that happens overnight.

When it comes to getting enough sleep, the average healthy adult needs 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. If you get into the habit of getting a good night's sleep, then your body will thank you in the long run.

One of the most important things to do with any workout is the warm-up and the cool-down. This will help prevent any injuries. Lastly, creating a consistent routine that includes prioritizing training, rest, and refueling your body will help you reach your body goals.
